This specific manifestation can be the result of abnormal electrical discharges in a localized region of the brain, leading to motor or sensory symptoms confined to that area. For example, an individual may experience twitching in one arm or a sensation localized to one side of the body.

In contrast, seizures that affect both sides of the brain are classified as generalized seizures. Those that lead to loss of consciousness or result in whole-body convulsions also fall into different categories, such as generalized tonic-clonic seizures.
